Our quality and safety approach
How SGTS plans survey methodology, builds in quality checks and approaches safety on site. This describes our working approach; it is not a statement of third-party certification.
Quality assurance and control steps
Scope and tolerance agreement
Accuracy requirements, coordinate system, datum and deliverable standards are agreed before fieldwork.
Instrument checks
Instruments and accessories are checked before use, and routine field checks are carried out during work.
Control and redundancy
Control is observed with redundancy so that misclosures can be computed and checked against tolerances.
Field checks
Check observations to known points are taken during detail capture and setting-out.
Processing review
Raw data is reviewed for blunders; adjustments and computations are checked before drafting.
Deliverable review
Drawings and data are cross-checked against field records before issue.
Documentation
Methods, control, checks and limitations are recorded in the deliverable report.
Site safety practices
- Review site risks, access and permits before mobilisation.
- Follow client site rules, inductions and permit-to-work systems.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment for the site.
- Coordinate traffic management for work on or beside roads.
- Maintain safe distances from plant, excavations and overhead lines.
- Do not rely on survey or GPR results alone for safe excavation; follow safe-digging procedures.
- Stop work and reassess when conditions change.
Data handling
Client drawings, documents and survey data are used only for the purpose of the assignment and stored with access limited to authorised staff.
